IS IT OKAY TO CONTINUE TAKING ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES AFTER WISDOM TEETH REMOVAL?

Question by bittersweet_symphon_y:
Is it okay to continue taking oral contraceptives right after wisdom teeth removal?

I scheduled my surgery on the final week of my cycle following studying that would reduce my probabilities of dry socket due to high amounts of estrogen in oral contraceptives. Does everyone know if it is okay to start my new pack of pills or if this will in anyway enhance my risk of dry socket? It has been three days because the surgery.

The main concern in your scenario is if you are offered antibiotics post surgery it will reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives so you might want to have a barrier technique if that is the situation. Also smoking will enhance your chances of building a dry socket. Modern day birth control pills have less quantities of estrogen /progesterone that earlier generations did
