How critical is it that you measure your stride when utilizing a pedometer?
Will it really make that massive of a difference if I skip this step altogether?

Most pedometers use an pendulum to count your strides while walking. By calibrating your stride length it will compute how far you walked by multiplying you number of stride by the length of the stride.
