HAS MEDICAL MARIJUANA REDUCED THE RELIANCE ON OPIATES FOR PAIN RELIEF IN STATES THAT HAVE MEDICAL MJ?

Question by Blue Haired Old Lady:
Has medical marijuana reduced the reliance on opiates for anguish relief in says that have medical mj?

Is there any way to know?

If marijuana is employed for anguish relief (as folks say), has there been any drop in the amount of prescriptions written for opiates like hydrocodone, vicoden, and so on.?

Regrettably, no it hasn’t, at least where I live! I live in California, where marijuana for pain is legal, but the use of Vicodin and Oxycodone (Percocet) is at an all-time high! They are getting so a lot difficulty with overuse of these drugs that they are beginning to prosecute the doctors writing the scripts.

I have chronic pain myself, and find mj incredibly ineffective, so I do not use it. I think about many people really feel the same – I know numerous individuals on mj that also take other narcotics with it (vicodin, and so forth.) but do not know too many people who have mentioned it decreased their reliance on other pain meds.
